The mission of the Public Works Department is to provide the county and its citizens with quality, routine and emergency maintenance of the road system throughout our county. With 993.43 miles of roads in Jones County (includes City and County), our dedication to providing these services is both challenging and rewarding.  One of the largest divisions in the county’s organization, public works encompasses fleet management, utilities coordination, solid waste, rights-of-way, bridges, reclamation and stabilization, clearing and grading.

The Public Works Department handles Special Projects for the Jones County Board of Commissioners. These projects include pipe replacements, small road projects, parks and recreation projects, and more.

The Jones County Public Works Department is an active member of the American Public Works Association (APWA). This means that our citizens benefit from having the highest quality public works services, performed by professionally trained employees, with an emphasis on customer service.

Our offices are located at 454 Cumslo Road, Gray, GA. 31032. Our normal hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 7am-5:30pm.
