The County attorney advises the Board of Commissioners and its
staff on their powers and responsibilities so that their actions
will remain within the legal framework laid down by the State
Constitution and the Legislature. The County Attorney attends the
Board of Commissioners’ meetings for the purpose of providing
on-the-spot counsel and obtaining first hand information on
immediate and contemplated Commission action. The County Attorney
and staff provide advice and service to County Officials and
Departments. The county attorney represents all departments and
officials in litigation and handles any suits against the county.
Frank Childs, Jr., a partner in the law firm of Groover & Childs in
Macon, was born and raised in Jones County.
Childs graduated from JCHS in 1967 and attended Young Harris College
before earning his law degree from Mercer University. Frank was
admitted to the bar in 1973.
In addition to holding the position of Jones County Attorney since
1975, Frank has served as president of the Macon Bar Association and
a member of the executive committee of the State Bar of Georgia. For
the past 20 plus years, Frank has also been the attorney for the
Peace Officers Association of Georgia (POAG).
Childs is a current member of the William A. Bottle American Inn of
Court, the Macon Bar Association, the Ocmulgee Bar Association, and
the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. |
