Continual Work in Progress:

The Building Maintenance Department has worked diligently this year to prepare a Community Park on Upper River Road for our residents.  When completed, it will have playground equipment, a gazebo, pavilions, bridge and observation deck, and restroom facilities.  They have also constructed a new workshop behind the government center building.  Continued improvements at the Jonesco Clubhouse include columns on the front porch.

Jones County Board of Education and Mr. DiPaolo:
The Jones County Board of Commissioners would like commend Mr. Nick DiPaolo and the students at the Jones County High School that constructed the gazebo at the Community Park on Upper River Road.  Through your leadership, the students with whom you work so closely are able to showcase their talents and developing knowledge gained in the classroom. 
Allowing them to work with us on this project has served two purposes; a continued educational experience that enhances the classroom experience by putting in to practice lessons that are taught and the tremendous benefit to our community by providing such a wonderful structure for our citizens to enjoy with their families for years to come.  We believe that as students provide this service for the county, it may instill a sense of community service as they mature and grow into the adults that will lead us in the future.  For these reasons, we also appreciate the high school’s inclusion of this program in its curriculum.  We strongly feel that many people benefit from these projects.  As you well know, this is not the first project with which we have enlisted the class’s help.  The county has been fortunate enough to have the gazebo in Carol’s Park and a building in one of our recycling centers constructed by the class in years past.

The building maintenance and construction department, located at the Government Center Building, serves the citizens of Jones County by providing cost efficient, professional construction, maintenance, and beautification services to all the facilities owned by Jones County.
