Lake Jonesco Golf Course is a 100-acre 18-hole public golf facility operated by the county and located on State Highway 22 East between Gray and Milledgeville, adjacent to the Jonesco Clubhouse. The original 9-hole layout was designed and built in 1939 by the WPA in conjunction with the Jonesco Clubhouse. The original construction included two small lakes, a pavilion, a swimming and diving facility and male and female bathhouses which were used by the general public until the mid 1960’s. The second 9-hole section was designed and constructed in 1984. After construction was completed, the old and new sections were combined to incorporate the best features of both sections. The lake and Commissioners’ Creek enhance the natural setting for six of the holes and combine to make the layout a challenging and rewarding experience.
