The Jones County Water System was taken back under county management on April 1, 2006 with a water superintendent managing the daily operations of the water system and reports directly to the County Administrator. The following restrictions still apply (March 2008):

Tuesday, June 5, 2007, the Jones County Board of Commissioners voted to change the drought status of the County back to a Level Two as .  County Water customers may water again on the even/odd system listed below.  The City of Gray has not issued the same drought level status.  Please call the City of Gray to inquire as to their status.

Georgia EPD declares Level Two drought statewide

According to State Climatologist David Stooksbury, "March was a very dry, and it's historically a very wet month in Georgia."  The level two drought was declared for all of Georgia.  EPD Director Carol Couch said drought conditions will continue to be monitored and she will confer with the Drought Response Committee again in a month.  Revised drought response declarations will be issued as necessary.  -April 18, 2007

Outdoor water use schedule:

• Odd-numbered addresses - Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays 12 midnight - 10 a.m.
• Even-numbered addresses and unnumbered addresses - Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays 12 midnight - 10 a.m.
